The Social Development Center (SDC) of Qatar, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, has been making efforts to provide an incubator for aspiring entrepreneurs in the country. The center has decided to honor deserving entrepreneurs and organizations that support entrepreneurial ventures with Reyada Awards.

The entrepreneurship awards program of SDC has received more than a hundred applications, out of which 21 have been chosen as finalists for the awards. The best projects from among them will be selected after a thorough review of each finalist. The top strategic partners who have joined hands with SDC for this awards program include Al Ijarah Holding, Occidental Petroleum and Qatar Islamic Bank.

The executive director of SDC, Amal Al-Mannai, says: “We feel privileged to enjoy the support of some of the most prestigious institutions in Qatar for our first Reyada Awards ceremony. The role Al Ijarah Holding, QIB, and OXY are playing will contribute to a healthy economy and will further support a growing culture of entrepreneurship in Qatar. We will continue to work with all our esteemed partners to create further understanding of our vision and mission as we continue to support budding entrepreneurs in Qatar to achieve all their ambitions.”

Munther Al-Dawood, Manager, Projects and Investments, SDC, comments on the response to the awards program: “Our target was to receive 75 applications. Not only are we beyond this target, but the proposals we received were extremely competitive.

“At SDC, we believe in developing leaders by empowering them with the skills and resources they require to succeed in a rapidly developing Qatar. Through Reyada Awards, we want to instil the notions of leadership and initiative in the minds of our youth; it is one of the many ways in which we hope to achieve our prime objective of community development.”

Award winning projects under this program will be chosen within three separate categories, two of which will be for new ventures, and a third will be for entrepreneurial support. SDC launched the Reyada Awards in 2011, and it is currently the leading entrepreneurship awards program in Qatar.
