The lack of access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) has a severe negative impact on health and the local communities in many developing countries. As a result, people are trapped in a cycle of poverty and diminished opportunities.
H&M Conscious Foundation´s Global Program for Safe Water and Sanitation in Schools and Procter & Gamble’s Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program are working with innovative and sustainable solutions to secure access to safe water and sanitation.
The goal is to give communities a chance to reap health, economic, and educational benefits. More specifically; safe water, sanitation and hygiene education in schools are cornerstones for children’s rights to live in dignity, and is vital to increase their possibilities for a better future.
Alek Wek is strongly committed to the field of clean water. Both from her personal experiences, but mainly because of the huge global impact lack of access to clean water and sanitation poses for too many people around the world.
“As a South Sudanese born, I have witnessed how important clean water is. Not only is it a basic human right, we need it to live!â€-Alek Wek
