Verb Supports Local Cancer Survivors During Amplify Austin

VerbThere are lots of reasons we love our hometown of Austin, Texas. The BBQ, the tacos, the natural pools and miles of trails… and the annual tradition of community-wide giving, Amplify Austin. For three years now, a spring day has been dedicated to the local nonprofits that make our beloved city what it is. This year, Verb is proud to be The LIVESTRONG Foundation’s lead sponsor, and help amplify the incredible things they do to help cancer survivors.

A walk around the LIVESTRONG office is a stroll among stories of determination, regaining health, and redefining what a survivor looks like. There are names and goals, photos and words of encouragement everywhere; and this is only a glimpse into the real work behind LIVESTRONG. In order to continue offering free serviceslike fertility preservation, clinical trial matching, and help with insurance and treatment concerns, the foundation is fundraising to grow the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. They’ve already served 34,526 participants, and want to reach even more across the Austin metro area. This innovative program brings confidential, one-on-one support in English and Spanish right into the community, for those diagnosed with cancer, for loved ones, friends, or caregivers. We’re putting our money passionately behind these life-changing efforts, with our promise to match up to $15,000 donated through Amplify Austin!

The partnership between Verb and the LIVESTRONG Foundation is an easy one. As office-mates, we find many opportunities to share new ideas, learn from past experiences, and encourage each other’s pursuits to address some of the world’s most wicked problems. In 2014, the LIVESTRONG Foundation partnered with Verb to present the Big C Competition, a global innovation challenge focused on improving the lives of the 32.5 million people living with cancer now. Over 750 entrants from 30 countries competed to win $140,000 in seed funding, mentoring from high-level executives, and worldwide exposure to real customers and cancer survivors. By powering the Big C, a first-of-its kind competition, LIVESTRONG joined Verb in demonstrating our mission — actions speak louder than words.
